Scan an ID Card on iPhone, Both Sides on One Page

How Do I Scan Both Sides of an ID Card?
Scan the front and the back as two pages. In the pages view, tap Select, select both pages, and tap ID Card. The earlier page becomes the front. PlainCopy puts the front above the back on one page, each at real size. Tap Save, and it is one PDF instead of two photos in an email.
Does It Work for a Passport?
A passport page is scanned as a normal document: one page, auto edges, B&W or Color. ID card mode is for cards with two sides, such as a national ID, driver's license, residence permit or health card.

Is the Card at Real Size on the Page?
Yes. Each side is placed at the ID-1 card size on an A4 page, so a copy printed at 100% matches the card. Pick Best size if the office that asked for the copy needs fine print to be readable.
Where Does My ID Scan Go?
The scan is processed on your iPhone and saved as a PDF in your own Files or iCloud Drive folder. PlainCopy has no account and the developer never receives it. Smart naming names an ID by its type, never by a person's name. With Pro you can lock the app with Face ID or Touch ID.
How Do I Add a Password?
Share it as a PDF with a password (Pro): the copy in your library stays open, the copy you send needs the password. Then use Email, which attaches the protected PDF. Send To sends the PDF without a password, so use it only for a folder you trust. Delete the scan afterwards if you no longer need it; it stays in Recently Deleted for 30 days.
ID Card Questions
Is ID card mode free?
No. It is a Pro feature. Scanning the two sides as two normal pages is free.
Does PlainCopy read the data on my ID?
It does not extract fields or build a database. Smart naming calls the file by its type, on your phone.
Can I lock the app?
Yes, with Pro: Settings › Lock with Face ID (Touch ID on iPhones with a Home button).
